Mothers and children in the extensive sample completed a follow up questionnaire and a range of filmed observational assessments at approximately 7 years of age. Partner’s also completed a follow up questionnaire. Domains of measurement include; parental and child mental health, physical health, demographic change, child temperament, parental lifestyle and relationship information, life events, parenting, child behaviour, personality. Teachers were also approached and reported on a range of aspects of functioning in school including; school performance, peer relationships, child mental health and wellbeing.
The intensive subsample also completed some extra measures including life events and more detailed relationship information in a mother interview, and more observational and experimental child measures (e.g. response to social rejection, reaction to pictures and sounds of varying levels of arousal, and eye gaze during an emotion recognition task). Physiological data was gathered from these children including cortisol reactivity to a social stressor and vagal tone during a range of control and stress related laboratory procedures.
