Abstract

The WCHADS extensive sample mothers and their partners who remained in the study completed a questionnaire follow up when their child was approximately 5 years of age. Domains of measurement include; parental and child mental health, physical health, demographic change, child temperament, lifestyle and relationship information, parenting, child behaviour, school readiness. Teachers of the children in the study were also sent a questionnaire to assess each child’s school readiness.

Women in the WCHADS intensive subsample completed multiple domains of assessment including diagnostic and other interviews, questionnaires, and a range of filmed observational assessments of mothers and infants were completed at approximately 5 years of age. Some hypothesis driven experimental measures to assess infant development were completed (e.g. attention performance during a fake argument). Physiological data was gathered from infants including cortisol reactivity to a social stressor and vagal tone during a range of control and stress related laboratory procedures.
