CLOSER Discovery

A postal questionnaire was sent to all eligible cohort members when they were aged 68 to ask about family, home, work and retirement, health, hospital admissions, wellbeing (WEMWBS), common health-related problems (fractures, falls, pain, incontinence), physical and mental fatigue, lifestyle (smoking, drinking, diet, exercise, and sleep habits), mastery, social activities and networks, religious and spiritual beliefs and personality (Big 5). Up to two reminder letters were sent to those who did not return a completed questionnaire. The postal questionnaire was completed by 2367 study members living in England, Scotland and Wales, representing 84% of the target sample for the postal questionnaire.
